Almost home....

After a very busy day in Cincinnati, arriving at Virginia's (Runcie's sister) house was a breath of fresh air.  Situated on almost 9 acres, her home is a veritable paradise for hotel-weary travelers.  Even though we arrived around midnight we all stayed up and enjoyed visiting for a little while.

After a good Saturday morning sleep-in, our kids were up and ready to help feed and visit with the menagerie of animals at "Aunt Gin's" home:  4 chihuahuas, 2 labradoodles, 4 exotic birds, and even a pot belly pig!!  To top off all the animal delights, the kids love to splash in the pool behind her home.

What's not to love!?
One of my (Donna) favorite things to do when we visit Virginia's mini farm is to ride the Polaris around the property.  Right before the rains came we were able to explore the creeks, fields, and the surrounding neighborhood.   All the hills and valleys only added to the excitement.  Yay!!

You might be a red neck if ....  hahaha!
After dinner we sat around and told jokes and laughed until we cried.  If you know Virginia her laughter is infectious and lightens the room.  After a Saturday night filled with laughter and a good movie, we all slept well.  Sunday morning meant it was time to head back to Nashville.  Safe to say, our return is bittersweet.  Probably more sweet than bitter.   Our return, however, means that school starts back in mere days which makes this mom sad.  It also means the end of our vacation.

Add about 95-100 miles to this as we didn't start the odometer until a ways down the road - all told, about 3,400 miles.

As we pulled back into Nashville we saw that we drove about 3,400 miles on our journey.   Driving that amount of miles in such close quarters with a good-sized family, I can honestly say, "I'd do it again!!"    Even though there were some "not at our best" moments, we've ended this little journey closer to one another and hopefully with a couple of life lessons under our belts.   Thanks for joining in our memories!!

Much love,

The Clements Family
